Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Pearl. She loved the game of Super Smith Sisters, a platform game, very much. She made it through all 7 worlds (Grass Land, Desert Land, Water Land, Ice Land, Sky Land, Forest Land, and Mountain Land) without losing any lives. She also loved many good things about the game. There was one thing Pearl didn't like about the game. This is:
When you stomp enemies without touching the ground, you'll get a combo that has a special name depending on how many enemies you stomp on. 2 is a combo; 3 is a super combo; 4 is a colossal combo; 5 is a golden combo; 6 is a platinum combo; 7 is a diamond combo; 8 is an emerald combo; 9 is a ruby combo. She wanted to stomp on 10 enemies without touching the ground. She hoped it was going to be called a pearl combo because she loves that word so much. But the truth is that the game says that any group of 9 or more even if 10 or more is called a ruby combo. One day, when she was playing the game, she got a combo of 10 and got very sad the way it was still called a ruby combo. This was a very bad thought of hers that she needed replaced. The result she gets from an adult depends on who's with her.
When Pearl is with her mother, she gets the response that she may think of 10 as a pearl combo. But when her mother is out of town and her great-aunt is babysitting her, she gets a response like this: "There's no such thing as a pearl combo. That is a term from your imagination that you need to avoid using in public. It's called a ruby combo. Live with it." Pearl says, "A ruby combo means 9 enemies; I stomped on 10." But her great-aunt was not impressed. She said, "A ruby combo is 9 or more." Pearl was just as sad as she could be because of her great-aunt's dislike of her use of the term "pearl combo".
One day, she was at a party with both her mother and her great-aunt, and was playing Super Smith Sisters. In the first level of the first world (that is, Grass Land Level 1,) she saw 10 enemies to stomp on without touching the ground. She stomped on them and called out all the combo names. "Combo! Super combo! Colossal combo! Golden combo! Platinum combo! Diamond combo! Emerald combo! Ruby combo! Pearl combo!" After announcing the pearl combo, her mother and great-aunt argued about whether it is okay to use a special term for 10. No agreement was reached. The result of the argument turned out to be as follows: Pearl may play the game only when her mother is home.
